Job Description:


Seeking a motivated Cloud Operations Engineer to solution and support the setup and rollout of PaaS. This vital and crucial role encompasses both new development and operational problem resolution for high volume, highly scale-able systems that must have high system up-time. The Agile Cloud Engineer will work with other talented engineers to leverage exciting new technologies in solving a variety of complex challenges in an effort to drive more efficiency into the service delivery process.


 


Roles and Responsibilities



•         Execute the Program Manager’s and Enterprise Architect’s vision of the PaaS and related technologies through implementation and long term support and maintenance.



•         Provide expertize on how the platform (built on Apprenda) and related core services work.



•         Work hand in hand with Cluster EAs to design and implement software solutions related to enhancing and extending the capabilities of the platform.



•         Build new and supporting existing platform features (integrations with internal tools, value-added services, etc.)



•         Support the platform and its running applications following a DevOps mode



•         Automate platform tests, deployments, upgrades, etc.



•         Identify, document, and close out bugs



•         Participate in architectural analysis and design of the system and cloud/PaaS best practices Candidate


 


Job Requirements

Skills Required



•         Security focused, ability to scope work, maintain security, develop and implement DR plan.



•         Requires a working knowledge and experience with all aspects of enterprise systems



•         Minimum 4 years of working with Apprenda or similar technology.



•         Strong Linux/Unix or Windows Administration experience; considered proficient in this area



•         Container technologies


o    Docker


o    Kubernetes



•         Java Application Containers


o    Tomcat


o    WebSphere



•         Networking



•         File sharing



•         IIS



•         Integration technologies



•         Proven, working experience and knowledge in various Build/Package/Deploy solutions using CI tools like Apprenda, Jenkins, etc.



•         Experience administering repository services like GitHub or Stash/ BitBucket for an Agile development methodology



•         Strong working knowledge of WebSphere and components.



•         Configuration management experience using solutions like: Ansible , Puppet, or Chef



•         Working experience with cloud solutions like Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS Cloud is a huge plus, other similar solution experience will be considered like OpenStack.



•         A solid understanding of scripting languages (For example, Linux/Windows Shell, Python, and JavaScript).



•         Also need to be able to code to RESTful APIs



•         Proven ability to support and manage SQL and NoSQL databases for the engineering environments



•         Experience with IT networking extremely valuable• Minimum 1 year working in a DevOps or container type environments



•         SNOW development knowledge is a plus



•         VMWare experience is a plus



•         Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent experience



•         System and/or IT Administration certifications and training programs relating to this position considered a plus
