Job Description

Sr. Desktop Engineer


Auburn Hills, MI


3+ months (Potential to extend, potential to convert)


               


Primary Responsibilities Include:              


•                    Work closely with other Desktop Engineers to manage the client environment in accordance with best practices


•                    Continually strive for innovation and automation in the client environment.


•                    Testing new hardware, software and operating systems for integration.


•                    Perform Client Management tasks using the Symantec Management Platform (Altiris) 8.1 and SCCM 2012 R2.


o        Patching, Software Deployment, Inventory, Reporting, etc


•                    Mac Enterprise deployment, configuration, and management


•                    Group Policy administration


•                    Manage and update Windows Deployment using the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit


•                    Create and modify scripts using Powershell and VB Script


•                    Vulnerability Management (identification, tracking, remediation, reporting)


•                    Administration of VMWare Horizon Virtual Desktop Infrastructure


o        Creating and modifying pools, provisioning, and general management


•                    Administration of McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator


o        Policies, event management, troubleshooting, etc


•                    Administration of Citrix XenApp 7.6 environment.


•                    Perform testing and system changes in accordance with the Change Management Policy.


•                    Providing recommendations to improve the overall stability of the workstation environment.


•                    3rd Level technical support to resolve issues with client agents, software installations, etc.



 

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements


•                    Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to the needs of the systems being supported.


•                    Familiarity with a range of systems including Windows, VMware, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS.


•                    Knowledge of scripting as it applies to workstation management.


•                    Knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.


•                    Excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution and root cause analysis skills.


•                    Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.


•                    Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.



Experience with these Products:


•                    XenApp 6.5.


•                    McAfee ePO (VirusScan Enterprise, HIPS, Drive Encryption


•                    Mac Enterprise Management (DeployStudio, Munki, Centrify Management for Mac)


•                    Scripting languages (Powershell, Python, BASH)


•                    VMWare Horizon


•                    Microsoft Active Directory


•                    Microsoft Group Policy Management


•                    Microsoft MDOP components


•                    Microsoft Desktop Deployment Toolkit


•                    Microsoft SCCM or Altiris (Symantec Management Platform)



 Performance Metrics:


•                    Project schedules and timelines.


•                    Measurable success of software deployments and patching


•                    Closure of incidents and changes within SLA.



Education:


•                    Understanding of core IT service and support practices


•                    Strong written and verbal communication skills;


•                    Experience with each of the following preferred:


o        Windows OS (7 and 8)


o        Office 2010 and 2013


o        VMWare VSphere Administration


o        Windows Server and Active Directory


o        Symantec Management Platform 7


o        Citrix XenApp 6.5


o        Common scripting languages


o        IT Service Management Tools (HP Service Manager)



Years of Experience:


•                    5-7+ years  



Desired Qualifications


Formal Education:


•                    Bachelors degree (or in process) or equivalent real life experience



 Specialized Skills, Knowledge, Certifications, etc.


•                    MCP, MCDST, and other technical certifications
