Senior Software Developer - ChannelMarkThe Senior Software Developer – ChannelMark position is a hands-on development role for one of our client’s key products – ChannelMark.  This role will participate and potentially guide external development teams in the architecture of current and future versions of the ChannelMark product.  This position will ideally be located in Atlanta, GA. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as lead process architect and lead developer for SCTE Insertion applications
  • Analyze cloud-based solutions; effort required for migration, benefits, costs
  • Provide hands-on development / coding projects to ensure that design and source control best practices are being leveraged
  • Work with management to create a product roadmap and be accountable for meeting agreed upon timelines and delivery dates
  • Partner with and potentially oversee external development and outsourced teams
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and offerings from vendors related to assigned areas of responsibility
  • Work to make Encompass an active and visible media technology and workflows leader, by participating in industry conferences and organizations
  • Provide executive support to customers on issues and questions related to SCTE-104/35 insertion, streaming technologies and monitoring
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Minimum of 5 years developing media applications
  • In depth understanding of SCTE specification documents; 35, 104 and 67
  • Understanding of broadcast process, including; signal flow, encoding, transcoding, delivery
  • Understand of streaming technologies, such as; encoding, DAI, MPEG-TS, MPEG-DASH, HLS
  • Working knowledge of broadcast schedules, automation playlists and as-run reports
  • Must be willing to travel as required, which may include overseas travel to various Encompass offices throughout the globe
  • Technical expertise with systems and hardware within Network Operations and Broadcast Engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as requests for proposals, standard contracts, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Ability to communicate initiatives to customers and to internal groups, is technically proficient and able to interpret between engineering teams and customer
  • Ability to effectively interface with IT and Engineering and articulate requirements and goals
  • Must possess the ability to work independently
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and maintain organization in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience developing applications sourcing SDI video and/or MPEG Transport Streams
  • In depth knowledge of SCTE specification documents; 118 and 224
  • Experience with at least; .NET 4, Windows Workflow Foundation, PHP, Web Services (SOAP, REST, etc.), database configuration/administration (MySQL, MS SQL, etc.)
  • Understanding of file formats; XDCAM, MPEG, H.264, AVI, MOV, MXF, ProRes, etc.
  • Experience parsing multiple file formats, data storage strategies (schema development) once data is parsed and creating XML, BXF, or ITXML
  • An in-depth understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Working knowledge of virtual compute platforms and hypervisors
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience required
  • Degree, certification or demonstrable skills with C# (.NET) development language
  • IT Certifications desirable (e.g. MCSE, MCSA, MCP or CompTIA certifications)
