Staff Systems Engineer – Security 

Peachtree City

Direct Hire - Full time (not open to C2C or C2H) 


Responsible for defining security strategy for our our client's In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems. This role supports current projects and planning for future projects. This role is responsible for requirements elicitation, system design, and supporting integration of security solutions into the infotainment head unit product, on time with high quality to the customer.  Provides direction to both on-shore and off-shore development teams to develop new features. Utilizes strong project management skills including planning, tracking to that plan, and communicating status to both internal and external customers.


  • Serves as systems engineering networking and security subject matter expert.
  • Provides basic training to system engineering to enable all system engineers to develop a working knowledge of security for automotive applications and common on-board network topology for automotive.
  • Defines and shape the client’s solutions for securing the in-vehicle network, securing Over-The-Air (OTA) transactions, and defining security measures to protect client IP for In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems.
  • Works with security consultants to analyze requirements and develop secure interfaces.
  • Collaborates with members of software development and design validation teams.
  • Works with global software development teams to define new features.
  • Procures defines/designs security features for automotive applications such as:
  • Security requirements elicitation
  • Security analysis (risks, threats, vulnerabilities):
  • Integrity check and protection from unauthorized manipulation                
  • Access control especially for distributed control architectures where data is exchanged over
  • vehicle bus, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB
  • Authenticated communication for external controllers (other Electrical Control Units (ECU) and control
  • sources external to the vehicle)
  • Data protection (Privacy/confidentiality)
  • IP protection
  • Support validation of security design by participating in the development and review of validation and certification test plans
  • Supports multiple project teams.
  • Leads and/or participates in meetings between our client, suppliers, and our client’s customers for design reviews and to track project status.    

Job Requirements


  • Four-year College Degree in at least one STEM major (Science; Technology; Engineering; Math) and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience with customer facing, electrical, mechanical, software of systems design experience in electronics products. Minimum two (2) years of Systems Engineering experience. Automotive industry experience preferred.
  • Must have experience in design and implementation of embedded security applications.
  • Experience integrating or developing one or more of the following or equivalent security solutions:
  • Public Key Cryptography Standards (PKCS), cryptographic hash functions like SHA, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Key management, securing attack surfaces, or defining and assessing threat models.
  • Working knowledge of high-end embedded Real-Time Operation System (RTOS)’s such as Linux, Android, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Requirements Management process and tools.
  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management (SCM) systems.
  • Working knowledge of a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience working in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Windows-based databases.


  • Experience mentoring and motivate team members.
  • Experience with penetration testing.
  • Working knowledge of the IBM Jazz/RTC environment.
  • Working knowledge of QNX.
